First, let me introduce myself. My name is Susan Irie and anyone who knows me knows that I am first and foremost a ‘Business Woman” and second, that I am absolutely crazy passionate about “Lighting”!
I have been in the business of lighting for over 20 years and this passion has never wavered. Lighting is an element that stimulates and speaks to both the analytical and creative sides of my brain. It is technical and precise and yet completely subjective. As I’ve learned about it and worked with it, I have enthusiastically shared it and taught it.
The science of electric lighting is evolving at a fast pace. The newest technology of “Light Emitting Diodes” and the design trends around “Eco-Friendly/Green Building” are revolutionizing some of the most basic architectural concepts. Every day I learn something new or make a distinction that adds clarity to my understanding of lighting and proficiency to my field. What we are seeing today merely scratches the surface of what is yet to come.
I have found that most people are completely unaware of how light affects literally EVERYTHING! As I share this insight with my many clients, associates, and staff members; I find that most people do not even know what light is, how it is measured and evaluated, what their choices are as consumers, and how lighting affects their everyday living and health.
My goal is to educate non-lighting people by simplifying extremely technical concepts into relevant information they can absorb and use. Ideally, our customers will develop a genuine interest in lighting, a good understanding of the physical world in which we exist, and an ability to visualize 3-dimensional concepts.
